Gonzaga’s Brian Johnson hopes to kick his way to a college scholarship

Against McNamara, Johnson connected on field goals of 42 and 47 yards, tying his career high for the second time this season.

Gonzaga's new football stadium features all sorts of bells and whistles. There's a brand new turf field and an underground parking garage below it. The bleachers shine in the sunlight and the stands feature standing areas where fans can rest drinks they bought from wood-paneled concession stands while watching a football game.

But school officials may need to add one more accessory based on the talented placekicker currently kicking for the Eagles' football team. What became clear as senior Brian Johnson's first extra point during Saturday's 34-24 homecoming win over McNamara sailed into the middle of traffic on North Capitol Street is that Buchanan Field could use some nets behind the goal posts.
